Raised rim on both sides. Touch marked "JW" beneath the date. Obverse illustrates Lady Columbia at right, standing, sharing a peace calumet, and having just given it to a Native Chief at the left, who is dropping a tomahawk. Inscribed "G. WASHINGTON / PRESIDENT" at top and dated "1789" below. Reverse illustrates the seal of the United States of America featuring a spread-winged eagle with a shield on its breast, and holding an olive branch and a bundle of arrows. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" with a constellation of 13 stars in a random pattern surrounding the eagle's head. Rays of light are breaking through a cloud above. Loop at top for suspension.
