For a similar example, see plate 105.PA on page 218 of "Swords and Blades of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. Of traditional form, the head measures about 13" excluding the straps, the armor piercing spike measures about 8" in height. There are symmetrical bird wings on each side of the broad blade projecting from the base. The round mounting socket has a large ring at the top, and the socket itself is faceted and has integral 6" mounting straps on each side. The replaced haft measures about 69-1/2", for an overall length of 82". The haft has a brace in the center and can be disassembled into two nearly equal sized parts. Haft is painted black. CONDITION: Head retains a pitted, dark surface with some delamination and a few broken tips to the decorative wings on each side of the blade. Haft shows losses to paint. DMG
