Arkansas "toothpick-style" belt knife circa 1860s. Knife measures 16" overall length with a 11 - 1/2" blade length. Blade is made from a hand-forged iron file or rasp with striations still visible. Cast brass cross guard typical of Confederate or Southern manufacture. Full tang blade is set in a tapered hardwood grip. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is nice with no age nicks, a decent point, and is dark with light mossing. Handle is solid to tang but is split on one side. Brass crossguard shows unpolished patina.
