Executed in 2005 is this incredible artist proof print 11 of 100 by the famed artist Mort Kunstler noted for his famed Civil War images. Entitled "Victory Rode the Rails" is based on the new Confederate recruits during the early part of the 1861 campaign, the first year of conflict. It pictures General Tomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson , a VMI instructor promoted to Brigadier General at the start of the war. The fresh and not yet battle tested boys in gray are off to war, boarding a train with sweethearts bidding farewell with baskets of food as if going to a 4th of July picnic. The print is dramatic and yet sad in a sense as these young and naïve boys eagerly plunged into the worst catastrophe in US history instead of the lark that they anticipated. Includes a certificate of authenticity on the back. Print size; 15" x 30". Museum quality frame size: 21"x35". Produced in fine offset lithography on archival art paper. CONDITION: Fine.
