Form is indicating of German/Saxon manufacture circa 1600. Spearpoint blade (extreme of tip damaged) with raised medial ridge. There is a 3 - 1/2" strip of ridge that is sunken and decorated with 3 sets of 3 dots. Ricasso with ridged sides and thumb divot, decorated with a cross and four dots on obverse. Hilt with ring and 2 cruciform quillons that sweep forward with plain knob tips. Grip is composed of woven brass wire with strips of iron connecting ferrules at top and bottom. Faceted globus pommel. Capstan shows evidence of reassembly at some point. CONDITION: Overall good. Metal is a smooth dove grey throughout, with some freckling and cleaned oxidation towards tip, and at ricasso. Small striations from previous cleaning. Hilt is good with some file marks from construction, minor marks, and some spots of patina; loose. Grip is good with brass a mellow mustard-y color. Globus pommel is good, more chocolate-y in color but solid. A good example. EMW
