A mid-19th century "commercial/trade" British musketoon marked by Barnett, London on its original flintlock, with proof and view marks on the 30" iron barrel. The brass hardware and stock follows the late pattern British military style form, and the piece has its original sling swivels and ramrod. The stock has crisp edges and a simple "oil" finish. All metal is polished bright, and the possibility that this piece was never used, or unissued, may account for its virtually new condition! In addition, the walnut stock has an oval brand "Barnett- Minories London" on the outboard side of the butt in front of the buttplate; also there is a "JW" stamped behind the rear extension of the trigger guard. An exceptional example with virtually new condition.
BARNETT MARKED FLINTLOCK RIFLE.
