A classic New England Lantern made for the Boston & Providence RR. This model is beautifully marked "B&PRR" on the lid reflector in serif letters. It is a NEG product and has their characteristic center pinch base and circular lid latch spring with 1854 and 1868 patent dates included with the hallmark, lightly stamped. The base is secure and has a plastered-in glass fount that shows no cracks. Burner is a twin tube whale oil style. The clear globe is the standard New England barrel with no markings, no significant rim chipping, and no cracks. The lantern has a beautiful, smooth, age-earned patina with slight surface etching. Scale rating 8.
