Fine condition and quality white wool-covered pressed cork helmet with white leather edging. Gilt brass fittings with officer's quality two-piece eagle plate with applied silvered numbers "24" mounted on its shield, infantry side buttons, spike and velvet backed chin chain. Fittings display most of their original gilt finish. Interior with white enameled and red silk sweatband and green silk visor linings. Crown stamped "B. M. Whitlock. 90 Fourth Ave. N.Y." Helmet is complete with its white felt shell ventilator used in place of the spike. Helmet is contained in its original velvet-lined, tooled-leather oval case measuring 11" high. Lid with paper label giving instructions on the cleaning of "White Cloth Helmets". CONDITION: Excellent. From the Ray Bentley collection.
