Confederate full length Georgia style pikes were manufactured by various blacksmiths in response to the 1862 order by Georgia Governor Joseph Brown calling for thousands to be made as defensive weapons. Blade measures approximately 12" and exhibits a curve with flat tip and dark gray/chocolate patina. Flat, narrow oval iron crossguard. A 1 - 3/8" iron collar is immediately below the guard and is followed by two 17" riveted iron straps. Traces of old silver paint on metal components. The pole measures approximately 84" with bug damage scattered throughout its length. 96" overall. Iron ring at bottom. The collar and straps exhibit a nice patina with evidence of an attempted cleaning. CONDITION: Fair.
