Almost never found separate from a gun, this lot includes a Thompson buttstock, complete with attachment hardware and buttplate, a pistol grip, two horizontal forends, two 1921 mainsprings, a 20 - 3/8” brass cleaning rod, and a lightened Thompson bolt with extractor. Close friend of previous owner informed this cataloger that the bolt was lightened by the previous owner in order to try it out with different loadings of ammunition. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Buttstock is extremely fine to near excellent at lightly sanded and refinished with some slight scratches, handling marks and bruises. Screws show evidence of turning. Buttplate has nice finish with gray patina at the high edges. Horizontal forends are both near excellent, not sanded, with “M” mark at rear. Pistol grip is extremely fine, not sanded, no hardware present. Mainsprings and bolt appear to be in good clean serviceable condition, as does cleaning rod, which from tip to base of the loop measures 18” (The appropriate length for a 1921 AC Thompson with a compensator). Very desirable lot for the Thompson owner. JWK 2024-05-098
