Probably third quart of the 18th century, the slightly curved single-edged blade has two partial fullers on each side and a 7" false edge. Hussar style brass stirrup hilt with faceted pommel cap, backstrap and knuckle bow. Quillon has a concave circle on each side. Bulbous wood grip shows traces of leather wrap and fine twisted brass wire. CONDITION: Blade retains a mostly grey patina with some scattered areas of heavy corrosion and some chipping to edge. Hilt is unpolished and retains a very dark patina. Grip has traces of leather wrap and most of twisted brass wire. An attractive early American sword. DMG.
