Double edged straight blade that measures from 10 - 3/4" with a flat raised medial ridge with tapers with cutting edges to form a spearpoint tip. Crossguard with one upturned and one downturned quillon with ball ends, with central stems engraved with florals. Pierced openwork hilt, which imitates small sword hilts from the last quarter of the of the 18th century, appears to be sheet silver-over-metal (very light ferromagnetism), with 4 vignettes of panoplies of arms on either side of the central waisted grip and on either side of the ball pommel. Silver (non ferromagnetic) drag and chape with simple line decorations, stud with floral decoration. Body of black leather. CONDITION: Blade has scattered darkness and evidence of sharpening. Edges have several indentations and a few chips; tip is broken. Silver plating appears to have been preserved with a layer of lacquer, which is visible in the piercings. Leather has heavy crazing and some craquelure.
