This most attractive full silver mounted sword has a 31-1/2" long fine Damascus blade, signed in gold on three panels on right side. The silver hilt of Persian form with silver cross guard embossed with Turkish crescent moon and bird form pommel. The grip with silver wrap and silver tacks. The scabbard with full silver mounts is embossed with crescent moons, foliage, and beading. Two carrying rings, long chape and locket, original leather wrapped scabbard. CONDITION: Blade is good, early form Kilij, possibly of Mamluk origin. Blade with watered Wootz pattern mostly visible. Also visible is a well defined temper line. Gilding on signature extremely worn, extreme tip of blade possibly reshaped. Most likely remounted in 18th century. The silver mounts in good condition with only very minor and expected dents. The leather is very crisp. An extremely showy and very attractive Ottoman Kilij.
