Serial No. 72. This is the second or New Model Army in 44 Russian caliber. It was manufactured in the 1870-80’s with only several hundred having ever been made. It is a rarely seen big bore holster pistol from the golden Wild West era. It comes standard in nickel finish with a 6 ½” round barrel and rosewood grips. This example is in superb condition retaining at least 80% of the original factory nickel finish with balance blending into a smooth gun metal gray patina. Lock up and index on this single action is perfect. Factory stamps are perfect as well. Strong rifled bore with a hint of corrosion. Really clean and untouched antique big frame and big caliber western revolver and seldom seen this nice.
FOREHAND & WADSWORTH NEW MODEL ARMY .44 REVOLVER.
