FRAMED "US BLACK SHELLS" ADVERTISING POSTER

This famous company was formed in 1869, but all of their manufacturing and machinery was transferred to Winchester by the new owners and was completely absorbed by 1926. This colorful lithograph features a marsh and duck scene at top while the main body features a gentleman submerging an example of one of their black shells in a glass of water, hence the phrase "WATERPROOF". The piece measures approximately 12 x 41.5" not including the frame. The condition is fine, but the black printed border has imperfections. There are no metal bands on either top or bottom of poster. This is a very rare example that this writer has not seen before.
