Probably German, ca. 1920s. This homemade dollhouse is very similar to some Gottschalk houses, but is more crudely constructed and opens from the front to reveal one room downstairs; the attic is not accessible. Furnishings include a homemade bed and three-drawer chest, Schneegass marble-top table and three chairs, a German cabinet, a colored print in an old daguerrotype frame, a cast metal condiment holder and clock, a glazed china crucifix and an unusual oval frame with old photograph. The house is very sturdy and conveys much charm in its elaborately detailed porch, hand-carved window muntins and mellow old painted surfaces. Doll House
