Handel table lamp has reverse painted aquarium shade with fish swimming among aquatic vegetation. The exterior of the reverse painted panels is highly textured, giving the feel of moving water. Unsigned. The shade rests on a Handel figural base depicting a mermaid emerging from a wave with a large clam shell on her shoulder. The base has a two socket cluster, glass finial, and is finished in a rich, brown patina. Signed on the underside with applied cloth tag "Handel Lamps". One large panel in the shade has been cracked and repaired, and several joints for the metal framework have been resoldered. The base is very good to excellent, rewired with contemporary plastic wire. Shade 18 - 3/4" x 9", base 23 - 1/2" T.
