This is a nice small ephemera lot that is ID'D to James A. Gallaher who was part of the Marine Ship Detachment on the USS San Jacinto. Gallaher served aboard the USS San Jacinto from December 15, 1943-November 10, 1945. The lot includes the book "A Short History of the U.S.S. San Jacinto" which contains some photos and documents pertaining to Gallaher's service. There are 6 photos that depict the San Jacinto, Gallaher, and the Marine Detachment. Completing the group is a document authorizing Gallaher to wear a Commendation Ribbon which he was awarded for defending the San Jacinto from Japanese aircraft on October 30, 1944. The document exhibits Admiral William Halsey's signature, which may be secretarially signed. CONDITION: All documents and photos are well preserved with some staining. The book has blemishes on the cover. Overall good. JLD
