One of the finest examples of a 20” Tiffany Studios poppy. The 20” leaded glass shade is absolutely superb. The shade features a background of cobalt blue glass with gorgeous red streaks running throughout. The background glass has unbelievable transparency. Shade is further decorated with poppy flowers in various shades of complex reds, including numerous and varied examples of prized drapery glass. The drapery glass creates an effect of depth and dimension to the flowers. The leaves on the shade are equally impressive, comprised of complex favrile glass in highly mottled greens overlaid with transparent and mottled blues. Two geometric rows at the bottom of wonderful ripple glass in beautiful shades of aquamarine. Sandwiched between these two rows is a geometric row of the same cobalt blue streaked with red glass found in the background. Leading and filigree are finished in a reddish-brown with gorgeous verdigris highlights. The shade is signed “Tiffany Studios New York 1766.” The shade sits on a wonderful patinated bronze Tiffany Studios Tyler-style base. The four-socket base is finished in a deep reddish-brown patina with verdigris accents. The underside is signed “Tiffany Studios New York 386.” Condition: The shade is in absolutely wonderful condition, free of any loose or missing glass. There are a small number of tight and stable heat cracks. The base is in excellent condition, free of any dents or cracks to the bronze with wonderful preservation of the patina. Includes authentic Tiffany Studios heat cap. Truly one of the finest examples of a Tiffany Studios poppy.
