IVES CLOCKWORK FIRE ENGINE HOUSE

Attributed to Ives, Fire Engine House with Two-Horse Cast-Iron Fire Pumper. American mechanical fire toy set comprising a two-story fire engine house and accompanying horse-drawn steam pumper. Fitted with a pair of large green-painted spring-loaded doors and an internal mechanism designed to release the fire apparatus from the building. Accompanied by a substantial cast-iron two-horse fire pumper featuring a pair of galloping black horses with gilt-painted harness detail and chain traces, red-painted chassis and spoked wheels, period seated fireman driver in red coat and black helmet, and black steam-pumper body with gilt banding, cylindrical boiler, pump fittings and bulb-form pressure chamber.
