In competition with the Edison phonograph doll this bebe enjoyed for more success than the Edison model. The music cylinders could easily be changed much to the delight of the young lady playing with her little charge. The bisque head, marked only with the number 11 at her crown is of the typical Jumeau quality. Fine bisque, brown paperweight eyes, an open mouth on a fully jointed composition/wood body with a removable tin access panel on her chest. The phonograph mechanism appears to be complete however in need of cleaning and/or lubrication. An interesting doll, the phonograph mechanism was subsequently recreated many times in latter decades by other toy firms and their respective dolls. The body has its original finish with some typical minimal wear, upon close inspection the bisque head has no visible issues however wig is glued tight.
