Lot consists of 10 items: (A) July 25, 1776, receipt to Charles King of Bolton for saltpeter used in making gunpowder “for use of this colony.” Paper frame backing. (B) Account of officer’s clothing Aug. 1779 to Dec. 1780. Lists beaver hats, castor hats, overcoats, uniform coats, etc. as well as types of cloth. List of officers, what they have drawn, and cost. (C) As above, but for 7th Connecticut. Aug. 1779 to July 1780. (D) As above, but for “Officers in Henry Sherbourn’s Regiment belonging to the State of Connecticut.” November 1779 to April 1780. Only 4 officers lists, some drawing more than once. This was Sherburn’s Additional Continental Regiment with troops from Rhode Island and Connecticut. (E) Payroll of Wylly’s Company of Webbs Regiment, February 1777. List of names, ranks, commencement of pay, to what time paid, etc. Separation on horizontal fold. (F) Receipt dated Artillery Park May 18, 1778, for 400 damaged cartridges from Col. Swift. He commanded the 2nd and 7th Connecticut. (G) Return of the Mens Names 1st Connecticut Regt June 12, 1780. Lists companies grouped together: 2 & 3, 4 & 5, 6 & 7, 8 & 9. Omits 1st Company. Perhaps consolidated as understrength. Lt. Col. David F. Sill’s regiment. Short list on reverse of sugar and coffee issued. (H) Pay order for Capt. Thomas Sill, May 20, 1780. (I) 2 pages, filled out on both sides, clothing accounts for various officers. Dates drawn are in 1778 and 1779. Seems to be an account kept by Major Bigelow at New London. Edge losses. Separation along fold. (J) Receipt dated July 11, 1776 at New Haven for 9 cartridge boxes for an expedition to New York, and to be returned, “unless lost by inevitable Providence.” Partial tear on fold. CONDITION: Very good with faults as individually noted.
