Lot of consists of: (A) British 1803 Pattern officer's sword that features a slightly curved, single edged blade with wide fuller and narrow ricasso. Openwork brass guard with the Royal cypher of George III in the knuckle bow. Grooved wood grip with palm swell and wrapped with leather. Lanyard ring at rear of knucklebow. Attractive lion head pommel with mane that flows onto the backstrap. CONDITION: The blade exhibits a gray patina with areas of pitting and freckling. Hilt exhibits a pleasing patina. Grip is missing wire wrap and exhibits handling wear. (B) British 1803 Pattern officer's saber that features a significantly curved blade with wide fuller and narrow ricasso. Blade with engraved foliate, martial, and patriotic motifs as well as the royal cypher. Interesting brass filled blacksmith repair toward the tip. Openwork brass guard with with the royal cypher of George III in the knuckle bow. Grooved wood grip with palm swell wrapped with leather and twisted strands of brass wire that are accommodated by the grooves. Lanyard ring at rear of knucklebow. Attractive lion head pommel with mane that flows onto the backstrap. CONDITION: The blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered edge wear and freckling. Motifs are faint. Hilt exhibits a pleasing patina. Grip exhibits handling wear with areas of loose wire. A nice pair of blades.
