Lot consists of (A) Eagle Head Pommel Spadroon. Straight single-edged spadroon blade with wide shallow center fuller. Both sides decorated with engraved and gilded designs, including a panoply of arms with a liberty cap on the right side and an eagle with "E. Pluribus Unum" banner and an oval with 16 stars above it on the other side. Gilt brass mounts, counter guard on right side with a pierced diamond. Stirrup hilt with a ring mounted just below pommel. Ferrule with roped design. Fine checkered ivory grip. Complete with its original scabbard with gilt brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade retains some of its original blued and polished surfaces, blue mostly turned to brown. Generous amounts of gilt wash present on engraved designs. Most of original gilt present on the hilt. Some minor chipping to grip below pommel on right side. Scabbards shows crazing and some losses to surface. Mounts retain most of their gilt finish, drag shows some denting. (B) Horse head pommel saber with slightly curved blade with blued panels on each side featuring gilded designs including panoplies of arms, an American eagle and foliate motifs. Ivory grip. Complete with its original black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade retains generous amounts of blued, gilded and polished surfaces, some scattered light rust. Hilt retains traces of gilt, knucklebow a replacement. Grip shows some chips and hairline age cracks. Scabbard has some cracking, throat mount missing stud.
