Lot consists of (A) Early 5-ball pillow pommel NCO spadroon with original scabbard. Straight single fullered blade decorated with blue panels with engraved and gilded patriotic motifs on both sides. Gilt brass hilt with 5-ball counter guard and knucklebow. Reeded bone grip. Complete with its original black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts and original leather hangers with iron buckles. CONDITION: Blade retains much of its original finishes with some scattered areas of brown and some wear at top of blade on both sides. Hilt retains much of gilt finish, worn areas have a darkening mustard patina. Scabbard shows crazing and some losses to finish. Mounts retain most of their original gilt. (B) Bird's head pommel saber with original brass scabbard. Blade with etched panels and gilt arms motifs and florals. Brass hilt with spiraling twisted reverse-P knucklebow, languets decorated with a star on each side. Bone grip with carved designs. Complete with its original plain brass scabbard. Blade retains generous amounts of blue and gilt finishes, some scattered rust and light pitting. Hilt retains a mustard patina, grip shows some cracks and a chip wear knucklebow and pommel meet. Scabbard shows some denting.
