(A) 19th Century Iron Cannon on Wood Carriage. This small iron cannon could have been used as a ships signal gun, or for landing party defense. Carriage and wheels are possibly of more recent manufacture than the tube, however the wheel mounts are original and are of hand forged iron. Measurements: Wood wheels measure 6 - 1/4", tube measures 12 - 1/2" long with a 1 - 1/2" diameter bore. CONDITION: Tube, mounts, and wheel mounts all retain a dark brown heavy patina with some corrosion overall. Carriage and wheels are very good with a dark surface. A nice crudely made, probably American cannon. Circa 1790-1840. DMG (B) Small 19th century iron ships signal gun. Gun is on the original period carriage with a stepped incline design. Cannon has 7" spoked iron wheels that shows period age and wear. Overall length is 19" with a 12" barrel including cascabel, and a bore of 1 - 1/8". Swab is also included. CONDITION: Slightly corroded surface, now retains an old black paint with some minor marks from use. Carriage shows great age and some scattered age cracks and marks from use. BM
