Lot contains: A) 2-7/8" pre-World War II Naval Aviator wing along with a 3" by 5" typed card which reads "Naval Relief Fund Auction/ Item: Naval Aviators wings./ Control Number: 94/ Donated By Flt. Adm W.F. Halsey USN" and signed "W.F. Halsey". B) Green wool garrison cap with a 1-5/8" Naval Aviator's wing pinned on one side and a five star rank insignia on the other. Interior lining is signed in ink "Sincerely W. F Halsey" along with a 3" by 5" typed card which reads "Naval Relief Fund Auction/ Item: Navy Aviation Green Flight Hat w/ Admirals Stars./ Lot Number 00/ Donated By: W.F. Halsey, Fleet Admiral USN." Signed "W.F. Halsey". C) Cotton five star Admiral's car pennant measuring 11-3/8" by 16". D) Testimonial Dinner Program dated November 9, 1945 held in honor of Admiral William F. Halsey, Jr U.S.N.. The Naval Relief fund auctions were and are a source of fund raising to help sailors and Marines with financial assistance both at home and abroad. Many celebrated military leaders donated uniforms and other personal effects to help the relief society to raise funds. CONDITION: Excellent. From the Ray Bentley collection.
