Lot consists of (A) Powder horn measuring about 12" across the bow with a folk-art chip-carved butt with traces of red and green paint. CONDITION: Horn body very good with one minor hairline crack at spout opening. Plug shows wear and one chip missing along edge. (B) Buffalo horn powder horn with convex turned wooden plug. CONDITION: Very good, one minor age crack on plug and a couple hairline cracks towards spout. (C) Engraved hunting or calling horn engraved "Walter Foster / Brazos Co. Texas / JULY THE 8TH 1878". It is also engraved with four stars, hearts, and flowers. CONDITION: Very good showing a couple minor insect nips. (D) Folk art powder horn relief carved with important generals, dated 1871. Wooden base has sliding trap door to fill powder. Horn engraved "AHM / 1871" at the top. There are labelled high relief-carved busts of the following individuals: "Vilhelm, Thiers, Napoleon, Grant, Eivin, Garibaldi, Amadeus". CONDITION: Pleasing patina, trap door at base is replaced. One crack stemming from base.
