This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/13/2019
Lot consists of: (A) A James Montegomery Flagg recruiting poster that appears to be a later reissue, originally issued in WWI. CONDITION: Poster is missing the bottom right and top left corners, with a small chip on bottom left. There is some fading. The U.S. Government reprinted the original in a smaller size for use in WWII. (B) Uncle Sam with finger to lips, indicating the fear of foreign spies and the need to keep quiet about war efforts. CONDITION: The top fold is separating, otherwise excellent condition with some remains of old tape on corners. (C) Is a dramatic poster featuring a tattered American flag with the quote "Remember December 7th" and shows the smoke from the burning ships at Pearl Harbor in the background with the quote from the Gettysburg Address "...we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain..." CONDITION: Excellent to near mint condition. (D) Is a poster of a quote from President Franklin D. Roosevelt reading "Having seen the quality of the work and of the workers on our production lines - and coupling these first-hand observations with the reports of actual performance of our weapons on the fighting fronts - I can say to you that we are getting ahead of our enemies in the battle of production." Features a black and white image of Franklin getting updates from various officers of the army and navy. CONDITION: Excellent condition with usual fold lines. (A) and (B) measure 20"x28". (C) and (D) measure 28"x40".
