A nice lot comprised of four unmounted officer's sword blades illustrating the type of inventory maintained by US sword retailers who often assembled swords to order from parts sourced from domestic and foreign makers. (A) Blade for 1852 USN officer sword. Weyersberg king's head at base. Tang stamped "63 B N.K." and "C.V." Bright steel with panels bright etched with USN motifs and Horstmann retailer address. CONDITION: Excellent. Very slight rubbing to wash at base. (B) Damascus spadroon blade. "Damsco" and "C.V" stamped on reverse tang. Weyersberg and Horstmann marked. Gold washed blade with bright etched motifs with gold wash including battle scene on obverse. CONDITION: Very good. Wash behind battle scene rubbed. Some small scattered gray spots obverse. Very visible Damascus grain. (C) 1850 Foot or Staff and Field. "KB" and "CV" stamped tang. Weyersberg and Horstmann marked blade. Standard military and floral blade etching. CONDITION: Very good. Blade etching is bright. Some dark gray spots five inches from tip on either side. (D) Blade for 1850 Foot or Staff and Field. Bright etched, standard motifs. Script "RA" on tang. Horstmann blade address. CONDITION: Very good. Bright with legible etching. A couple of small dark spots near tip. A nice lot in very good condition for display or restoration. (SR)
