Lot consists of: (A) C. Hammond 1840 cavalry saber with a 31 - 3/4" gently curving blade with partial double fullers running approximately 3/4 of the length. Tip has been rounded. Left side of ricasso stamped "C. Hammond". Grip has been rewrapped and sword shows evidence of that disassembly. Interestingly, the blade on this saber with rounded tip and an exceptionally heavy blade. Scabbard with two hanger rings and no throat. One ring exceptionally high on the body of the scabbard. CONDITION: Good. Blade with scattered areas of darkness, dings, and was cleaned at one point in its life. Brass is now a dark patina. Rewrapped grip with split on left side and areas underneath where previous grip can be seen. Scabbard has been refinished with extensive pitting underneath the finish. (B) Henry Boker made 1860 cavalry saber with gently curving 34" blade with partial double fullers running approximately 3/4 of the length of the blade. Right side of ricasso marked "Henry Boker / Solingen". Three branch guard, leather wrapped wood grip with single strand of braided brass wire. CONDITION: Cleaned blade with scattered areas of darkness. Grip has lost approximately 60% of its leather, leaving wood visible. Brass is a pleasing dark patina. Scabbard refinished with a few door pinches at drag. EW
