Vibrant coloring to the bisque head which has enormous brown paperweight eyes, heavy rose colored eye shadowing and a nicely detailed mouth with the hint of a tongue. Marked on rear of head in a scroll F.G., with ‘9’ above. She is on an interesting body consisting of compo lower legs, compo and wood arms, papier mache shoulder plate(restored) and a cloth torso. Dressed in many layers of antique undergarments, a corset, and her dress and wig are of a French style but not original to her. A note attached to her dress indicates that this doll was once owned by: Queen Ranalavona III of Madagascar who died in Algiers in 1917. Bisque head appears to be free of hairlines/cracks however cork pate glued tight, a minute rub to underside of dimpled chin.
