France, ca. 1900, with Simon & Halbig bisque flange head incised 1300 Halbig SH, blue glass eyes, finely painted brows and lashes, open mouth with teeth, pierced ears, bisque arms holding knitting needles, brown mohair wig, original silk and lace dress. Seated in bamboo turned wood chair, brass musical clockwork mechanism contained under chair seat. When operated the head moves forward and back, while hands twist to simulate knitting.
