Sword has a patriotic motif throughout. Has a brass hilt that includes a star and stripes shield and a US flag. Pommel has a face. Blade is signed, "W. Walscheid, Sclingen". on one side, and "Proved" in the shape of a circle on the other. Blade faces have an eagle on one side, and the initials, "U.S." on the other, with both sides containing various flags and leafwork surrounding. Comes with matching metal scabbard that is engraved, "Presented to Capt. R.B. Young. by members of his battery, 5th P.V. Artillery." The scabbard has an eagle and leaftwork engraved on one side. There are some light dents in the scabbard. The sword is in excellent condition.
