A British Coat Pistol with a brass "box lock" (flintlock) and a brass 4 1/2" cannon barrel. The stock has a silver relief cast butt cap with a "rampant lion atop a tower". The ornate silver thumb piece is illegibly engraved with the owner's initials (or crest). The brass engraved box lock is engraved "HEYLIN" (the maker) on the left side and "CORNHILL, LONDON" (address) on the right side. The walnut pistol grip has a faded, "nut brown" color and plain finish. A fine quality pistol is this piece.
