These rare rifles were manufactured in Plattsburgh, New York from 1870 to 1874 with less than an estimated 600 manufactured. This rifle is chambered for the .44 rimfire caliber, features a 28" full octagon barrel, a 2/3 magazine with a brass frame, and walnut stock. These rifles are noteworthy to Winchester collectors as the company was purchased by Winchester in 1874 and were never again manufactured. This rifle is in superb all original condition, retaining about 90% of the blue finish on the barrel and tube, starting to plum, lovely brass frame, nickel plated trigger guard and butt plate. Stock is excellent with no cracks or chips, slightly shy to metal, traces of case colors on hammer, factory stamp on breach block, and original sights. This is considered the Type 2 AKA Model 1872 and has the "Adirondack New York Plattsburgh" stamp. Strong bore with light frosting. Perfect working order.
