The Automatic Minnow, patented July 29, 1913 by Charles Lane of Madrid, NY is one of the finest lures ever created. This hollow metal, glass eyed minnow measures 2-5/8", body only, and is beautifully finished in brown back, silver sides, white belly with tiny hand painted scales and just a hint of red on the mouth and gills. This is one of the most ingenious inventions in fishing tackle….as the bait moves through the water, the metal tail rotates, causing the side fins to move up and down….try to digest that concept and consider this….1913. The condition of this particularexample is nicer than most known…one small flake to the right side, otherwise exceptional. It is high time for this classic miscellaneous bait to get the attention that it so rightly deserves.
