Pair of very early NY metal baits made by J. Ratcliffe of Rochester. Lot includes a 2-3/4" Hook To Spoon, rigged with a "McHarg" type swivel and very clearly marked, and a 2-1/2" kidney spinner, faintly marked but readable, with a box swivel and bucktail double hook that may not be original to the bait. Ratcliffe dates back to the 1860s with the potential to have been a bait maker in the latter part of the 1850s. He is definitely one of the earliest bait makers of NY state and his baits are seldom offered.
LOT OF 2: EARLY J. RATCLIFFE MARKED METAL BAITS.
