Hailing from Cadillac, MI., Oscar Peterson, one of the most widely known fish decoy makers in history, also made and patented a fish bait. On May 3, 1927, he was granted patent #1627455, for an Artificial Fish Bait. This example may be one of his finest known creations. Utilizing the floating/diving theory, this brass hardware, 4 1/2" hand carved wood bait, features an incredible "perch" finish, with dark green back, green stripes, red accents and spots, a true work of art. Condition is excellent- showing slight belly wear and varnish aging. Includes a black and white photograph of this bait and the others that were with it. An extraordinary example from a great artist.
OSCAR PETERSON FLOATING/DIVING "PECKERHEAD" BAIT.
