A circa 1870s green painted wooden treasure box by J.Y. Ayer, hallmarked "WELLS FARGO" on the front panel with stenciled white paint. It is a thick, wood box with iron hardware on the corners, hinges and reinforcement. It also has a hand forged iron latch. Included are padlock and key, both stamped "W. F. & CO". The leather handles on the sides are gone, although one of them is resting inside the box. The inside of the box is stamped, "Manufactured by J.Y. Ayer, 3740 Seventeenth St., S.F CAL"

Condition: (Very Good).
