Barrel length 39-1/2". 16 bore. Offered is a fine English made single shot flintlock fowling piece. Barrel has English proofs, stamped 22. Retains 90% of its original brown finish. Lock plate is not marked, a blend of blue and brown. Full length walnut stock is excellent. A tulip metal rod is retained by 4 thimbles. Trigger guard sports a swing swivel while the front swivel goes through the stock (AKA Brown Bess-type). Stock has a large brass thumb shield and Bess style flutes on both sides. Very good bore. Working order. This musket is typical of the trade style that found its way into the eastern wilderness of the Hudson valley before and after the American Revolution.
