Barrel length 26", .50-110 W.C.F. The factory letter confirms that this rifle was shipped on 11/27/1894 as follows: Type: Rifle; Caliber: 50/110; Barrel type: 1/2 octagon; Trigger: Plain; 1/2 Magazine; Shotgun butt. The Big 50 Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle is arguably one of the most highly sought after weapons ever manufactured at the Winchester plant. Those with special order feature, and in high condition, are coveted the world over. This is an outstanding example that letters all the way. The barrel retains approximately 85-90% of the original factory blue finish, with standard sporting sights, razor sharp edges, sharp barrel legend with "50EX" stamped at breech, the bolt retains virtually all of fire blue factory finish. The frame retains approximately 75% of the original case colors, some brilliant, with some usual light age freckling. Even the loading gate retains approx 75% of its original fire blue finish. The hammer, lever and nose cap retain case colors, some brilliant. The walnut stocks are excellent, retaining most of the original finish, are proud to metal, no cracks, with some minor abrasions and some oil darkening at butt. The shotgun butt plate is smooth steel with teat. Action is perfect and a strong, near mint bore. One would be hard pressed to find a finer example with special order features and this much original factory finish in a 50 Express rifle. A prize for any collection.
