This approximately 50cm cub is a perfect combination of everything collectors love. Teddy is made out of white mohair, which has mellowed a bit over time. He is five-ways jointed and stuffed with excelsior. Teddy has all original tan felt paw pads with four hand-embroidered claws on each. Teddy has long arms, narrow feet and a prominent back hump. His endearing and precious face has a center seam, black shoebutton eyes, and a brown hand-embroidered nose and mouth. One one out of seven early Steiff bears have a center seam face, making them extremely desirable for collectors. Teddy's IDs have been lost to time; he would have has a 4mm Steiff "trailing f" style button when he left the Steiff factory. This bear's leather and bell collar is not original to him, but is a most flattering accessory nonetheless. A wonderful example of turn of the last century Steiff craftsmanship and design. One footpad with a tiny nick and one paw with slight darkening of the cotton backing of the mohair. From a fine Texas collection.
