Circa 1850s. This fascinating set includes one 8-inch reversible white/black male doll with nine costumes that range from the primitive to the ethnic outfits of various countries. Six 9.75"x7" sheets have intricate drawings of the inhabitants of these countries and maps of the continents. The lithograph on the cover of the box pictures an African family signaling to a ship sailing toward land. The doll has neck and ankle bends and the box shows wear. An interesting, educational glance at the world of the mid-1800s.
