Made for Duke University in North Carolina. Devil is 28 cm, arms and leg jointed, and made mostly from felt. He wears a blue felt suit and white boots which are integral to his body. He has tan felt hands and long blue felt devil tail. He holds his original pitchfork. His head is made from rubber and his hair is short black mohair. This rarity was made from 1954-1963 in this size only. This particular example is from the earliest part of the production timeframe. Condition: The doll retains his crisp and fully legible yellow tag and raised script button as his Steiff IDs. There is general surface-only crackling to the rubber head, and a hairline crack to one ear. Horns have been stabilized with a careful gluing. In original, very good to excellent condition overall.
