Having a curved 29" blade with one wide fuller. Left side with legend: FOR MY COUNTRY and KING. Right side: GRENADIER GUARDS. Ovoid guard pierced with scrolls. Knuckle-bow with Crown and GR cypher. Lion head pommel with integral back strap. Wire-wrapped fish skin grip. Contained in black leather scabbard with three gilt mounts pierced with incised ovals. Panel on top mount with legend: R. Johnston/Bland & Foster/Sword Cutler &/Belt Maker to his/Majesty/68/St. James St./London. Two ring mounts. Flowered belt stud. Blade polished and showing patches of scattered pitting. Hilt with light age patina. Scabbard with cracks and repainting. Mounts with wear and dents. Circa 1803.
