With scabbard. Having a straight 30" blade of diamond section. Blade etched with scrolls and legend: Gen. C.F. Durand. Gold-finished hilt with double clamshell guard, the outer portion with relief eagle. The interior guard collapsible and having a relief: US. Single knuckle-bow with supplementary bar. Ovoid pommel with eagle. Wire-wrapped grip. Contained in original gilt scabbard with three cast mounts and three hanging rings. Blade showing light wear and rust deposits near tip. Hilt near mint. Scabbard excellent. General C.F. Durand, Loyal Legion of the O.U. A. M., an anti-Catholic order founded in Philadelphia in 1844. It was a Nativist organization against cheap foreign labor.
