This style toy was manufactured by several companies in the 1870-1890`s time period. This example, made by the Geo. Brown firm, has a clockwork motor contained within the tin boiler. Unique construction for a toy with a small pivoting wheel under the cab to position the direction of the locomotive when wound and activated by the child. The wooden base & boiler front are nicely stenciled and the tin boiler & cab are painted with applied stenciling as well. Overall a good clean piece with some minor paint touch up by key hole on left side & a slight crease to tin roof.

Item Dimensions: 9 -1/4" L.
