Esthetically a very fine example of an early American tin hose reel. Large in size this toy has been restored with much attention to details such as the floral decorations on the wheeled frame and the name “Gladiator” stenciled onto the tubular front & rear supports. A hand crank would have enabled the child to roll the cloth hose and the two bells would have announced that the hose reel was en route to a fire. A grand in appearance toy at a fraction of the price for one with all original paint finish. Featured in Antique Toy World Article. November 2008 - Page 58
