One of the finest early, circa late 1800's, hand painted trains manufactured by any of the numerous global toy makers. The clockwork engine and cars, reminiscent of the 1850-1860's period, are meticulously painted with a great degree of detailing overall. Additionally paper insignias have been applied to the cars indicating: 1st Class Paris to Marseille or Baggages (1 of 4 "Baggages" section missing). The tender is attached by means of a connecting pin whereas the passenger cars and baggage car can be attached by hooks and loops. Upon close inspection there is even a pin for standing engineer which more than likely would have been a well defined papier mache figure. The engine still retains its original lead headlamp which is attached to the removable smokestack! Interestingly the wheels are permanently positioned so when the engine is wound and activated the train would run in a rather large circular pattern. This was one of Jack's favorite toys in his collection and if one were to study this toy train closely it is easy to understand and appreciate such a seldom found example! Overall in very fine plus original condition with some uniform flaking to the painted surfaces most notable on the red passenger car.

Item Dimensions: 33" L.
